Unlike a generic metal bed frame, the Sophie is a true iron bed. We craft each bed frame from solid iron bars. Our makers form, weld, and finish every frame by hand in our British workshop. Therefore, the bed feels solid, stable, and reassuring night after night.

The Sophie iron bed is available in a wide range of finishes. A black metal bed frame creates a bold statement. Ivory and cream finishes feel softer and more delicate. Every colour highlights the craftsmanship in a different way.
Each bed includes an FSC-certified pine slatted base. The base supports airflow and perfectly houses one of our bedstead wool mattresses. The iron bed frame also comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Sophie’s Story
The Sophie iron bed was one of the very first designs we created, over twenty years ago. At the time, we wanted to make iron beds that felt honest and purposeful. We focused on proportion, strength, and comfort rather than excess detail. That philosophy still guides how we build every iron bed frame today.
We named the bed after Sophie, the first daughter of close family friends. Those years were full of shared meals, summer barbecues, and busy Christmas gatherings. That sense of warmth and familiarity shaped this bed frame from the beginning. When I look at the Sophie iron bed now, it still reminds me why we started making beds in the first place.
The design takes inspiration from traditional Victorian iron beds, but I refined it for modern living. The tall headboard gives the iron bed presence and structure. At the same time, the low footboard keeps the bed open, comfortable, and practical. This balance makes the iron bed frame suitable for both classic and contemporary homes.
We still make every Sophie iron bed by hand, one at a time. We do not mass-produce. Skilled makers shape the iron, weld every joint, and finish each metal bed frame with care. This process creates strength, character, and subtle variation that factory-made frames simply cannot match.
A black metal bed frame gives Sophie a bold and confident look. In contrast, cream and ivory finishes feel softer and more delicate. Each colour reveals a different side of the same carefully crafted iron bed.

- Care instructions: Clean iron work with a damp cloth and gently wipe over surface. Heavy impacts may damage the powder coated finish.
Iron beds – powder-coated
- We recommend that you clean your metal bed frame with a fresh soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
- Avoid cleaning products that may contain solvents or ammonia.
- Authentic brass details will tarnish over time. As our brass is unlacquered, it can be cleaned using a quality brass cleaner. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- As our iron beds are heavy, we recommend a minimum of two people when moving or handling your bed.
- Never drag your bed and always lift it using the side rails.
- Heavy impacts may damage the powder-coated finish.
- Please note that careless handling may cause damage.
As all of our beds are painstakingly handcrafted to order, our delivery times range from 4 to 12 weeks depending on the model you choose.
For mainland UK addresses, typical delivery times are as follows:
- Iron beds: 4 to 6 weeks
- Brass beds (excluding Rosie and Willow): 6 to 8 weeks
- Nickel and copper beds, and Rosie and Willow brass beds: 8 to 10 weeks
Occasionally, it may take longer to deliver your bed, although changes to your delivery will always be communicated with you.
You’ll receive an order confirmation via email within 72 hours, and our delivery team will aim to confirm a provisional delivery week shortly after. We’re delighted to handle all of our own deliveries, which helps ensure a quality service. Our delivery team can assemble your bed in a room of your choice, and we’ll even make sure to remove all the packaging ready for a restful night’s sleep.
A signed delivery note will be required by our delivery team before they can leave. It should confirm that you’re happy with your new bed and everything is as expected. Please take a moment to check your goods carefully before signing.

Although it does require a large amount of packaging to ensure that your bed arrives in perfect condition, with your help, we can ensure that all materials are reused or disposed of properly.
As standard, our delivery team will unbox and unbag your goods so that they can take any packaging away with them. If you’d like your goods to remain in their original packaging, please let us know before your delivery team arrives and be sure to dispose of the packaging appropriately.
It can be tricky to choose the right bed, especially when it’s guaranteed to last a lifetime. So, we offer you a promise: we’ll exchange your bed free of charge if you decide it’s the wrong size, style or colour within 30 days of delivery.
Our 30-day sleep promise covers our full range of handcrafted wrought iron beds. All that we ask is that you have seen your bed in person, in the correct style and colour, at our showroom. The bed must also be ordered from us directly.
