Handmade beds built for you

Each of our handmade metal beds is built for you by our master craftsmen and craftswomen here on the Royal Estate of Sandringham in Norfolk. But what do we really mean by handmade?

It all starts with the finest raw materials…

Our work begins with the highest-quality iron and brass bars that arrive at the workshop here in Norfolk straight from the mill. Our bed frames are lovingly handcrafted from wrought iron, a low-carbon option favoured for ornamental ironwork since ancient times.

As opposed to cheaper cast iron or mass-produced alternatives, you’re sure to notice the difference the moment you pick up your bed for the first time: with a weighty wrought iron frame – the weight alone will convince you that our beds are guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Sourced from right here at home…

Nearly all of our raw materials are sourced from right here in the UK, as close to our home in Norfolk as possible.

Why? As a family business that’s grown organically over many years, we’ve seen how our success directly impacts the lives of our employees, suppliers and the local economy. As a result, we believe in building our business sustainably to ensure that we can support permanent jobs and happy lives here in Norfolk and the wider UK.

What’s more, using local suppliers means that we can visit our suppliers’ factories more easily and regularly, ensuring that the materials we use in each bed are up to the high standards that we demand.

In the hands of our master craftsmen and craftswomen…

As the only iron bed maker recognised by The Guild of Master Craftsmen, our team of expert craftspeople are at the heart of everything we do. From the moment the raw materials arrive, your bed will be gradually built from the ground up by real hands here in our workshop on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Solid iron bars are cut down to size using a band saw and a steady hand. Each part is then carefully welded together by hand using a combination of complex welding techniques. Finally, the frames are polished and powder-coated for an attractive finish that will stand the test of time (and the occasional bump with a hoover).

Working with an uncompromising eye for detail…

It’s an often-overlooked advantage of a traditional workshop: unlike a modern factory, where occasional spot checks are the only quality control possible, our beds are closely inspected at every stage of construction.

With a real human engaged in each step, we can ensure that all of our beds meet the same unparalleled standards.

To make a bed that will last a lifetime…

The highest grade iron frames held together by meticulous hand welds are the sort of combination that can hold up a bridge or keep a ship together.
In fact, we’re so confident in the quality and durability of our beds that we guarantee that they will last a lifetime*. Should your bed develop an imperfection due to faulty materials or craftsmanship, we will repair or replace your bed free of charge.

* Please note that the guarantee will be fulfilled at our discretion.
