The Natural Comfort No.5 British wool mattress offers the firmest surface feel in the collection. However, this firmness comes from minimal wool filling rather than increased support. As a result, the mattress feels flat, tight, and controlled from the first night.

This British wool mattress uses 1,200 core pocket springs only, with no micro springs. Because each spring responds independently, movement remains stable and even. At the same time, the lack of comfort layers means there is very little sink-in.

A small amount of hand-teased British wool sits above the springs. Although the wool volume is limited, it still supports airflow and natural temperature control. Over time, the wool settles evenly rather than compacting, which helps maintain consistency.

This mattress suits sleepers who actively prefer a very firm feel and minimal cushioning. However, firmness does not always equal comfort. For this reason, many customers choose the Natural Comfort No.3 British wool mattress instead. It remains our most popular option because it adds more wool for better pressure relief while still maintaining structure.

Care Instructions

Rotate and turn your mattress every two months. This helps ensure even wear and supports natural settling of the wool and cotton layers.
Use a breathable mattress protector to protect against moisture. Occasionally remove bedding to allow airflow. On delivery, let the mattress settle for a few hours before use.
Use a soft brush or vacuum with an upholstery attachment. If spills occur, blot gently with a clean cloth. Do not scrub, soak, or steam clean the mattress.
