A Mother’s Dream, A Family’s Craft

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of sleepy mornings at my grandparents’ home. I remember climbing into bed with them—those beautiful old iron beds with mattresses so high they felt like a mountain. There was something so comforting for a little girl about them. They weren’t just beds—they were places of stories, cuddles, safety, and love.

Years later, when I became a mum myself, I found myself wanting to recreate that same feeling for my own children. I wanted bedtime to feel magical. I wanted their bedrooms to be places where they felt warm and held, wrapped in love, just as I did as a child. But as I searched for that same kind of bed, I couldn’t find anything that possessed the same soul, the same weight of memory. Nothing was made the way it used to be—and nothing was made here in Britain any longer.

So, I decided to change that.

That’s how the Wrought Iron & Brass Bed Company came to life—born out of love, nostalgia, and determination. I didn’t want to merely create beautiful beds. I wanted to build something that families could cherish, a legacy that could be passed down just like my memories had been.

From the very start, I was committed to ensuring everything was British-made. I believe in our heritage, in the makers, the skills, the pride that still exists in the quiet corners of this country. I’m so proud that we’re now the only UK metal bed maker certified by Made in Britain®. Our small team works here, on the edge of the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where we handcraft every bed with care and intention. Every weld, every curve, every final polish—it’s all done by people who genuinely love what they do.

In 2023, something truly dear to my heart became a reality. We introduced our own line of mattresses—something I’d quietly dreamed about for years. But these aren’t just any mattresses. They’re lovingly filled with pure British wool, sourced directly from dedicated sheep farmers and their families across the UK. Knowing the care that goes into every fleece—the early mornings, the generations of knowledge, the deep respect for the land and animals—makes each mattress feel even more special. It felt as though everything had come full circle. Not only were we handcrafting the beds, but we were now creating the comfort within them too. This wool, soft, breathable, and naturally sustainable, carries with it a story of homegrown care—and for me, that’s what makes it not just good for the planet, but genuinely good for the soul.

This story, in the end, is for the women—for the mums—who create the heart of the home. The ones who fluff the pillows, smooth the sheets, and quietly make magic happen in everyday moments. I see you. I am you. I know how much you invest into every space you touch and how deeply you care about the little things—the soft glow of a bedside lamp, the weight of a good duvet, the peace of a well-made bed.

Everything we do, we do with you in mind. Because I believe bedrooms are more than just rooms. They’re where we rest, recover, dream, and love. And the beds at the centre of them should be just as special as the lives lived within them.

With all my love,
