The Archie iron bed is a calm and confident presence in the bedroom. It feels settled, well-balanced, and easy to live with. Made under one roof in our Norfolk workshop, this iron bed is built with long-term comfort in mind.
The design feels familiar without being predictable. A tall headboard gives the bed a quiet presence, while the lower footboard keeps the room open and uncluttered. As a result, Archie works just as well in smaller bedrooms as it does in more generous spaces. It invites you to sit back, rest, and spend time in bed, not just sleep in it.
This is a true iron bed frame, not a lightweight metal bed frame made to look similar. The structure uses solid iron where strength matters, which gives the bed a reassuring weight and stability. Once in place, it feels grounded and still.
Archie comes with a pine slatted base as standard. The slats allow natural fillings to breathe and settle, which makes them an ideal match for our British wool mattresses. Because the headboard sits higher, the bed also works beautifully with a slightly deeper mattress, creating a more comfortable and inviting feel without overpowering the frame.
Like all our iron beds, every bedframe is made to order. We do not mass-produce or import frames. That approach allows us to focus on consistency and detail, and it is why we are the only UK iron bed maker certified by Made in Britain®.

Archie’s Story
The Archie iron bed came from listening closely to how people use our beds. Over the years, Henry and Edward became two of our most popular designs. Henry is simple and upright. Edward feels heavier and more architectural. Customers often liked parts of both, but wanted something that sat quietly between the two.
Archie grew from that space. It keeps the calm, dormitory-style feel of Henry, but adds more presence through the headboard and joints. Compared to Edward, it feels slightly lighter and more relaxed, without losing strength. The result is an iron bed that feels familiar, but not copied.
All our iron beds are made to order in our Norfolk workshop. The frame is built from solid iron bar, with every joint welded by hand. We do not use cast joints or pressed fittings. Those shortcuts are common in mass-produced metal bed frames, but they do not last. Welding allows us to control strength and keep the frame tight over time.
The tall headboard makes a real difference in daily use. It gives proper support when sitting up in bed, whether you are reading or resting. The low footboard keeps the bed practical and open, especially in smaller rooms.
Finish changes the character. Black feels defined and confident. Ivory and cream soften the iron and suit lighter spaces. Whichever you choose, the structure stays the same. Solid, balanced, and made to last.

- Care instructions: Clean the ironwork with a damp cloth and gently wipe over the surface. Heavy impacts may damage the powder-coated finish.
Iron beds – powder-coated
- We recommend that you clean your metal bed frame with a fresh soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
- Avoid cleaning products that may contain solvents or ammonia.
- Authentic brass details will tarnish over time. As our brass is unlacquered, it can be cleaned using a quality brass cleaner. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- As our iron beds are heavy, we recommend a minimum of two people when moving or handling your bed.
- Never drag your bed and always lift it using the side rails.
- Heavy impacts may damage the powder-coated finish.
- Please note that careless handling may cause damage.
Delivery and returns
As all of our beds are painstakingly handcrafted to order, our delivery times range from 4 to 12 weeks depending on the model you choose.
For mainland UK addresses, typical delivery times are as follows:
- Iron beds: 4 to 6 weeks
- Brass beds (excluding Rosie and Willow): 6 to 8 weeks
- Nickel and copper beds, and Rosie and Willow brass beds: 8 to 10 weeks
Occasionally, it may take longer to deliver your bed, although changes to your delivery will always be communicated with you.
You’ll receive an order confirmation via email within 72 hours, and our delivery team will aim to confirm a provisional delivery week shortly after. We’re delighted to handle all of our own deliveries, which helps ensure a quality service. Our delivery team can assemble your bed in a room of your choice, and we’ll even make sure to remove all the packaging ready for a restful night’s sleep.
A signed delivery note will be required by our delivery team before they can leave. It should confirm that you’re happy with your new bed and everything is as expected. Please take a moment to check your goods carefully before signing.

Recycling
As the only carbon-neutral iron bed maker, working towards a sustainable future has been at the heart of our family company since we began. Although it does require a large amount of packaging to ensure that your bed arrives in perfect condition, with your help, we can ensure that all materials are reused or disposed of properly.
As standard, our delivery team will unbox and unbag your goods so that they can take any packaging away with them. If you’d like your goods to remain in their original packaging, please let us know before your delivery team arrives and be sure to dispose of the packaging appropriately.

Our Sleep Promise is a confidence guarantee. Designed to give you complete peace of mind. If you’ve visited our showroom and viewed your chosen bed style and colour in person, but once delivered, you feel it isn’t the right fit for your home, you can exchange your bed within 30 days of delivery free of charge.
We also extend our Sleep Promise to online and telephone orders. However, exchanges for orders placed without a showroom visit are subject to collection, redelivery, dismantling and reassembly charges. Any change in bed size or product specification may also incur additional charges or refunds where applicable.
