Some beds begin with a sketch. Louis began with a personality.
We named Louis after the first-born son of close family friends. Even as a baby, he had an unmistakable presence. Bold, sturdy and grounded, he inspired a bed that shares those same qualities. Today, they remain central to the Louis design.
Generous proportions give the frame its confident silhouette. Chunky lines create a sense of permanence, while restrained detailing keeps the design beautifully balanced. Louis does not rely on ornament to make an impression. Instead, scale, proportion and substantial materials give the bed its character. At its heart sits a substantial iron core. Solid feet and joints continue that reassuring sense of strength throughout the frame.
The nickel plating creates a striking contrast with this substantial construction. Its lustrous surface catches the light and defines the bed’s architectural lines. Our craftspeople make every Louis to order in Britain. They work with British-sourced raw materials and bring considered skill to every frame. The result feels confident rather than imposing. Its Edwardian influence brings tradition, while the polished nickel gives the design a fresh expression.
Louis has grown into a fitting tribute to its namesake. It feels strong, dependable and quietly assured. Bold, sturdy and grounded from the beginning, Louis proves that true character needs little introduction.

- Care instructions: The Louis Nickel bedframe requires regular cleaning with a dry cloth to remove dust and surface grease; we recommend doing this at least once every three months to prevent the finish from discolouring. Heavy impacts may damage the plated finish.
Each Louis Nickel Bed is individually handcrafted and finished with a lustrous nickel-plated surface. Regular care will help preserve its distinctive finish for years.
Clean your Louis once a month using a clean, soft and dry cloth. Gently remove dust, fingerprints and surface oils from the entire frame. Pay particular attention to joints, finials and detailed areas. Dust and residue can naturally collect around these sections over time. Regular cleaning helps maintain the appearance of the nickel plating. A build-up of residue may eventually cause tarnishing or discolouration.
Avoid abrasive cloths, metal polishes, chemical cleaners and excessive moisture. These products can damage or permanently alter the nickel-plated surface. Take care around the frame to prevent scratches, knocks and heavy impacts. Gentle handling will help protect both the plating and handcrafted details.
Our Lifetime Guarantee does not cover damage or discolouration caused by unsuitable cleaning or insufficient regular care. If you dismantle or reassemble your Louis, always follow our official assembly video. The correct process helps protect the frame and its finish. Our craftspeople make and finish each Louis individually. Therefore, subtle variations may appear across the nickel-plated surface.
These nuances reflect the handcrafted nature of the bed. They also give each Louis its own individual character.
Delivery and returns
Because every bed is made to order, lead times can vary depending on the collection and finish you choose. We’ll contact you at least two weeks before delivery with a provisional date, giving you plenty of time to confirm it works for you. If you need us to hold your bed until you’re ready, there’s no charge to rearrange your delivery or store it.
We handle our own mainland UK deliveries, so your bed stays in our hands from our workshop to your home. Our team will deliver to the room of your choice and remove all packaging when they leave.
Because each bed is made to order, cancellation and return arrangements depend on the bed you chose and whether it has been made to your individual requirements. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
You’ll find full details in our Delivery Terms and Returns & Cancellations. If you have any questions before ordering, please call our showroom on 01485 542516 — we’re always happy to help.
