The Emily bed frame brings softness and elegance to our cottage-style collection through its graceful sweeping curve and balanced proportions. We handcraft every frame in our Norfolk workshop using traditional methods and authentic British materials. This careful approach allows us to shape each detail by hand while ensuring lasting quality and support. Subtle legs and solid iron feet complete the design, while a choice of self-colour or authentic brass feet adds warmth and character.

Emily shares some of the same flowing qualities as our Lily design, but keeps a simpler and more understated look. Because of this, the bed frame suits relaxed cottage interiors as well as more classic bedrooms that need a softer focal point.

The generous proportions create a calm and inviting feel. As a result, Emily pairs beautifully with layered bedding and a deeper wool mattress. A wool mattress enhances comfort while adding breathable support and natural temperature regulation.

Emily also holds a special place within our collection. It was one of the very first designs we created over 20 years ago and helped shape our approach to British craftsmanship and timeless design. We named the frame after a close friend’s daughter, continuing the personal stories behind many of our earliest designs.

Emily’s Story

Emily holds a special place within our collection. It was one of the earliest handcrafted designs we created over 20 years ago and helped shape the approach to craftsmanship and timeless styling that still defines our workshop today.

We named the frame after the second daughter of close family friends. Her older sister, Sophie, also inspired one of our earliest designs. Because of this, Emily has always carried a strong personal connection and remains an important part of our story.

From the beginning, we wanted Emily to balance elegance with strength. Long, flowing lines and a sweeping curve create a softer, more relaxed feel, while certified British iron provides the frame with lasting stability and support. This combination allows the design to feel refined without becoming delicate or overly decorative.

The sweeping curve soon became the defining feature of the frame. It adds movement and lightness to the overall shape while maintaining a calm and balanced look. As a result, Emily suits both cottage-style interiors and more traditional bedrooms, looking for an understated focal point.

Over the years, Emily has remained one of our most recognisable metal bedsteads. Families grow, homes change, yet the design continues to feel relevant, practical, and timeless. Today, Emily still reflects the values we started with — honest materials, thoughtful design, and handcrafted furniture made to last.

Iron beds – powder-coated

We recommend that you clean your metal bed frame with a fresh soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
Avoid cleaning products that may contain solvents or ammonia.
Authentic brass details will tarnish over time. As our brass is unlacquered, it can be cleaned using a quality brass cleaner. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
As our iron beds are heavy, we recommend a minimum of two people when moving or handling your bed.
Never drag your bed and always lift it using the side rails.
Heavy impacts may damage the powder-coated finish.
Please note that careless handling may cause damage.

Delivery and returns

Because every bed is made to order, lead times can vary depending on the collection and finish you choose. We’ll contact you at least two weeks before delivery with a provisional date, giving you plenty of time to confirm it works for you. If you need us to hold your bed until you’re ready, there’s no charge to rearrange your delivery or store it.

We handle our own mainland UK deliveries, so your bed stays in our hands from our workshop to your home. Our team will deliver to the room of your choice and remove all packaging when they leave.

Because each bed is made to order, cancellation and return arrangements depend on the bed you chose and whether it has been made to your individual requirements. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

Recycling

Getting a handcrafted wrought iron bed safely from our workshop to your home takes a fair amount of packaging. It’s there to protect your bed properly, and that will always be our priority.

You may notice that some of our boxes have been used before. That’s quite deliberate. If a box is still strong enough to protect another bed, we see no reason to replace it simply because it no longer looks new. Our packaging is chosen for the journey, not for how it looks when it arrives.

Reusing what we can means buying fewer new boxes and using fewer virgin materials, while also reducing the water and resources that go into producing them. And because we deliver our own beds, we can take the packaging back to our workshop and use it again.

We’ll normally unpack your bed for you and take the packaging away when we leave. If you’d prefer us to leave your bed wrapped, just let us know before delivery.

30 Day Sleep Promise

Choosing a handcrafted bed is an investment, and we want you to be completely happy with your choice. If you can, we recommend visiting our showroom, where you can see the beds for yourself, compare designs and finishes, and take your time deciding what feels right for your home.

We appreciate that a trip to our Norfolk showroom is a journey for many of our customers, so we offer a contribution towards your travel costs. It gives you the opportunity to see the craftsmanship up close, get a true feel for the different finishes and spend some time with us before making your decision.

Our Sleep Promise gives you a little extra reassurance too. If you’ve visited our showroom and seen your chosen bed and finish in person, but decide after delivery that it isn’t quite right, you can exchange the bed frame within 30 days, free of charge.

The Sleep Promise also applies to beds ordered online or over the telephone. You can still exchange your bed within 30 days, although collection, redelivery, dismantling and reassembly charges will apply. If you choose a different size or specification, we’ll adjust the price accordingly.

Our mattresses are certified British-made through and through — even the springs are made here. They’re handcrafted exclusively for us using natural fillings and British wool sourced directly from sheep farmers, so we can trace the wool in your mattress back to the farm it came from. Rather than using heavily processed layers, we hand-tease our wool to gently open the fibres, preserving its natural loft and breathability for lasting comfort. No foam. No synthetic fillings. Just traceable natural materials, traditional British craftsmanship and a mattress made without shortcuts.

We don’t believe you need a “special” mattress for front, back, or side sleeping. Most of us change position several times a night, so our mattresses are engineered to feel comfortable and supportive however you sleep.
