Arthur
Our Arthur iron and nickel bed is a contemporary twist on a classic Victorian design. Grand details, like the handspun finials – a full 10 inches in circumference – and vase-like ornamentations, all aglow in a scintillating nickel finish, give the bed a show-stopping presence. But, despite every luxurious embellishment, the heritage design at its foundation helps it blend seamlessly into traditional as well as modern homes.
- Assembly is included as standard.
- Handmade in wrought iron.
- Available in all standard UK sizes as well as bespoke sizes.
- All sizes are available in 5 different plated finishes.
- A Scandinavian pine-slatted base is included as standard.
- Your bed is guaranteed to last a lifetime.
If nickel is slightly too loud for your taste, we also offer our Arthur style in authentic brass, which ages beautifully over time. You can find the brass equivalent, our George bed, here.
Arthur’s Story
Our Arthur bed is a homage to one of Amanda’s – our founder and matriarch – favourite jokes: “Who’s Arthur? I hope he doesn’t do Arthur job”… We don’t get it either. Luckily, what we did all understand was that we wanted to build a bed that was beyond half measures. The Arthur was to be a tribute to maximality: our biggest, most breathtaking bed.
The result is a true challenge even to our master craftspeople: the gigantic, 10-inch finials are painstakingly handspun; each leg cuff, found at the halfway point of every leg, is hand moulded from three individual components; the sturdy feet are sand-casted by hand for a flawless, sturdy base.
What’s more, all of this is built at tremendous scale – a height of almost 1.4 metres – and finished in resplendent nickel for an Arthur that simply has not heard of half measures.
