My First Blog…

About Me…

Lets me introduce myself, my name is Amanda, this is my very first blog ever! Fasten your belts here we go…

My life before forming the Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Company looking back was quite orderly.  I found myself living in the midlands, my husband Stephen left the house at 7 a.m. each morning… an hour later Myself with Jack and Harry (2 sons) left for work and school…This was our ritual Monday – Friday evening… Friday evening – It all changed.

By the time Stephen arrived home on a Friday evening, our weekend bags would be packed and waiting by the front door. Over the years we had this down to a fine art… from Stephen arriving home, to the car being packed with 2 Labradors and our bags we could be off the drive in 30 minutes… now on our way to Norfolk for the weekend.

On the journey back to the midlands on Sunday my head was already thinking about the following Friday when Stephen would arrive home and off we go again

This was our life until October 2003, then it was ALL CHANGE… The main reason, Stephen had a big health scare, he needed to change his life style.

I do believe everything happens for a reason… especially in this case…

In October I had ordered 2 Iron Beds 2 Iron Jack and Harry, when the beds arrived I was very disappointed in the quality, for the price I had paid…. Two brain cells banged together, we could move back to Norfolk and make beds ourselves.

That would be a change in life style that Stephen needed, we would be working together and be in fabulous Norfolk, what a brilliant plan!!!!!

Reality soon set in, working with person you share your life with has lots of ups and a couple of downs.! You can get into the habit of allowing work to follow you. I found the best unwind after work was to be outside.

When I saw Jamie Oliver’s program on battery Hens, the answer was simple… I can rehome battery girls, we are now on our third lot of rescue hens. The Girls arrive looking very pale and uninteresting, very soon they start to grow frilly knickers and their crown is back to the lovely Red it should be…. Bless their hearts they lay eggs for there country… If you are passing, please feel free to call in for some Free Range Eggs- they are beautiful… though I say so myself.

I do hope you have enjoyed my first blog, writing this blog has made me realise the massive journey we have been on… my next blog will be on June 9th…. and I think the world is ready for the story about my boy’s (that is my 4 legged duo, a New Forest Pony and Irish Draught.)

One of my girls…

Omelette anyone?
